Position Overview

Join Vancouver Coastal Health (VCH) as a Clinical Educator in Counseling Services

Vancouver Coastal Health is seeking a Clinical Educator in Counseling Services with a Master's degree in Clinical Counseling or Counseling Psychology to become part of the Regional Allied Health Education team. This role involves collaboration across various regional sites as necessary. We invite you to consider this opportunity to enhance our team.

Responsibilities of the Clinical Educator in Counseling Services at VCH include:

Collaborating within a multidisciplinary team to deliver specialized education and insights throughout the health authority. Offering clinical and educational guidance to designated personnel within Vancouver Coastal Health. Overseeing student placements and mentoring clinical preceptors. Designing, executing, and assessing educational and orientation initiatives, providing practical training, and assisting in the development and implementation of new clinical methodologies. Engaging with other healthcare professionals to address clinical issues and enhance client care. Facilitating training in Clinical Counseling practices, including sharing best practices, adapting techniques, and updating staff on new therapeutic procedures. Collecting data for continuous improvement and demonstrating leadership in clinical counseling services. Keeping abreast of clinical and professional practices through direct engagement with patients and clients.

Required Qualifications

Education & Experience

A Master's degree in Clinical Counseling or Counseling Psychology from an accredited institution, including a supervised clinical learning component, along with a minimum of four (4) years of relevant clinical counseling experience and completion of a professional teaching program. Experience in developing educational materials, implementing educational strategies, and supervising students, or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience. Eligibility for registration with the BC Association of Clinical Counsellors and/or the Canadian Counselling and Psychotherapy Association. A valid BC Driver's License is required, as local travel may be necessary.

Knowledge & Skills

In-depth understanding of organizational policies, legislation, procedures, and standards of care. Extensive knowledge of clinical counseling theories and practices within a client-centered care model. Familiarity with provincial standards of practice and guidelines for clinical practitioners. Knowledge of educational theories and tele-health methodologies. Awareness of other healthcare disciplines and their roles in client care. Proven ability to promote Indigenous Cultural Safety and provide culturally competent care. Skills in developing effective educational modules and leading educational initiatives. Ability to foster a creative learning environment and promote evidence-based practices. Strong communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to interact effectively with colleagues, healthcare staff, patients, and external agencies. Proven organizational skills with the ability to prioritize tasks effectively. Physical capability to perform the duties of the position. Proficiency in technology related to tele-health and educational methodologies, including spreadsheet and database management. Competence in operating relevant equipment.
