The Opportunity

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Food and Beverage Operations Manager to join our team at Royal Canadian Lodge. As a key member of our hospitality team, you will be responsible for ensuring the smooth operation of our food and beverage outlets, including restaurants, bars, and room service.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct pre-shift meetings to inform staff of daily events and review daily specials.
  • Ensure side work duties are complete and tables are set before, during, and after operating hours.
  • Ensure all food items from the kitchen and all buffets have a good presentation.
  • Supervise activity in food and beverage outlets to ensure smooth operation and guest satisfaction.
  • Ensure outlets adhere to all standards as outlined by brand and hotel guidelines.
  • Schedule employees according to forecast and monitor employee tardiness and absences.
  • Instruct employees in the proper performance of their duties.
  • May participate in the recruiting process and assist with employee training and development.
  • Provide recommendations for employee performance management and evaluation to support the career development of employees under their supervision.
  • Notify manager of incidents or conflicts that affect normal business operations or guest service.
  • Maintain standards of food and beverage quality and guest services, resolve guest complaints.
  • Participate in monthly inventories and initiate programs to reduce breakage and loss in China, Glass, and Silver.
  • Maintain open lines of communication with all employees and departments.
  • Respond quickly to guest requests in a friendly manner and follow up to ensure guest satisfaction.
  • Work within budget guidelines and give consideration when making any purchasing decisions.
  • Assist in the development of short-term financial and operational plans for the outlet, which support the overall objectives of the outlet and the hotel.
  • Assist the Food and Beverage Manager and the Hotel Sales Department in promoting the outlet.
  • Fulfill Manager on Duty shifts.
  • Provide a professional image at all times through appearance and dress.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 2 years of experience supervising or leading a Food and Beverage Team in a fast-paced environment.
  • Post-secondary Food and Beverage/Hospitality program is an asset.
  • Guest-oriented and service-minded.
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills with the ability to multi-task and work well under pressure.
  • Hands-on approach to training, and commitment to developing the team.
  • Quick thinking and able to spot and resolve problems efficiently.
  • Certified in provincial responsible liquor service and sales program.
  • Proficient knowledge of various computer software programs (Microsoft Office, Outlook, POS).
  • Up to date with food and beverage trends and best practices.
  • Able to run the floor and give directions to team members.
  • Flexible availability, able to work various shifts and weekends.
