The AFP Golden Horseshoe Chapter is seeking a highly experienced and skilled Strategic Advancement Director to lead our fundraising efforts. This is an excellent opportunity for a seasoned professional to make a significant impact on our organization.

About the Role

The Strategic Advancement Director will be responsible for developing and implementing a comprehensive advancement strategy, managing a team of staff, and working closely with the Executive Director and Board of Governors. The ideal candidate will have a proven track record of securing gifts at the six- and seven-figure level, experience in staff management and strategic leadership roles, and exceptional interpersonal skills.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement a comprehensive advancement strategy that aligns with our organizational goals
  • Manage a team of staff and provide guidance and support as needed
  • Collaborate with the Executive Director and Board of Governors to establish annual fundraising goals and budgets
  • Represent the AFP Golden Horseshoe Chapter as an advancement ambassador and member of the senior team internally and among the community of theatregoers, donors, prospects, volunteers, and other supporters
  • Develop and implement campaigns in collaboration with the Executive Director and Board leadership, including the current "Because Excellence Matters" campaign
  • Work with the Executive Director, Artistic Director, and Advancement Committee Chair and volunteers to identify and implement strategies for major donor prospects to grow the pipeline
  • Identify, cultivate, and manage a large personal portfolio of major and principal gift donors and prospects
  • Ensure appropriate, creative, and segmented cultivation, recognition, and stewardship are in place for all donors and prospects
  • Work with senior leadership and the Board to coordinate the stewardship of our major donors
Requirements and Qualifications
  • Progressive experience in senior fundraising roles, including experience successfully securing gifts at the six- and seven-figure level through diverse revenue streams
  • Current or past experience working in arts and culture is a definite asset
  • Proven track record of setting and reaching financial goals with excellent organizational and administrative skills along with the proven ability to manage multiple programs, revenue streams, and data
  • Solid and diverse campaign experience, including participation in significant campaigns
  • Experience in staff management and strategic leadership roles, along with experience operating as part of a cross-functional senior leadership team
  • A proven history building and leading high-performing staff teams
  • Exceptional interpersonal skills, with a demonstrated ability to build, manage, and maintain meaningful relationships with donors, prospects, volunteers, and other supporters
  • Extensive experience in managing and advancing a complex portfolio of prospects at various stages of development
  • Experience in working with prospects, donors, and senior volunteers from both Canada and the United States
  • Experience with both Canadian and American fundraising models, trends, and techniques
  • Results-oriented personality with a collegial management approach and a high level of integrity
Compensation and Benefits

The AFP Golden Horseshoe Chapter offers a competitive salary range of $172,023 – $206,428 and a comprehensive benefits package.
