The Table Community Food Centre is a dynamic organization dedicated to fostering a healthier and more connected community. Our mission is to improve access to healthy food, enhance food skills and literacy, advocate for individual well-being, and educate, engage, and advocate for social policies to address food insecurity and poverty.

Executive Director Position Overview

We are seeking a visionary, community-minded, and experienced leader to become our next Executive Director. The ideal candidate will bring a deep understanding of social justice principles, particularly as they relate to food insecurity, poverty, and systemic inequality. They will be committed to embedding equity in all aspects of our work and fostering an inclusive and respectful environment for staff, volunteers, program participants, and the broader community.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Strategic Leadership: Provide visionary leadership to ensure The Table remains focused on its mission through an equity and social justice lens.
  2. Collaboration with the Board: Work closely with the Board of Directors to develop, implement, and evaluate the organization's strategic plans and policies.
  3. Financial Oversight: Manage The Table's budget and financial operations, ensuring responsible stewardship of resources and the long-term financial sustainability of the organization.
  4. Program Delivery: Oversee the development, implementation, and evaluation of programs that align with our mission, while addressing community needs.
  5. Human Resources: Lead, mentor, and support staff, ensuring an inclusive workplace that values diversity and promotes professional development.
  6. Fundraising & Grants: Secure funding through diverse revenue streams, including government grants, foundations, individual and business donations, and community partnerships.
  7. Community Engagement: Serve as a spokesperson and advocate for The Table, strengthening relationships with stakeholders, including participants, donors, volunteers, and community partners.
  8. Risk Management: Identify and manage risks related to the organization's operations and services.
Qualifications
  1. A university degree or equivalent experience in social work, business administration, public policy, or a related field.
  2. A minimum of five years of progressive leadership experience in the non-profit sector, with a strong emphasis on social justice and equity.
  3. Proven experience in financial management, including budgeting, financial reporting, and operational oversight.
  4. Strong human resources management skills, with the ability to lead a small staff team and a large volunteer base.
  5. Experience with facilities management, project management, and familiarity with the Request for Proposal (RFP) process.
  6. A deep understanding of equity, diversity, and inclusion (EDI) principles and experience applying these principles in organizational leadership.
  7. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with a demonstrated ability to engage and build relationships with diverse stakeholders.
  8. A proven track record of successful fundraising, grant writing, and partnership development.
  9. Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively and effectively within a team, fostering a cooperative and supportive environment among staff, volunteers, and community partners.
