Overview of Opportunity

Kelowna General Hospital is seeking a highly skilled Medical Director to lead our expanding Psychiatry department. As a key member of the hospital team, you will be responsible for overseeing patient assessment and treatment, collaborating with clinicians, and contributing to the development and maintenance of programs and policies that support mental health and substance use services.

Duties:

  • Patient Assessment and Treatment: Conduct comprehensive assessments of patients to develop personalized treatment plans, ensuring timely and effective care.
  • Collaboration with Clinicians: Work closely with multidisciplinary teams to provide high-quality care, address complex cases, and enhance service delivery.
  • Program Development and Maintenance: Contribute to the creation and implementation of evidence-based programs and policies that promote mental health and well-being.
  • Mental Health and Substance Use (MHSU) Support: Provide leadership and expertise in supporting the MHSU clinic, fostering collaboration between healthcare professionals, and promoting best practices.
  • Telepsychiatry Opportunities: Engage in telepsychiatry initiatives to expand mental health services to underserved communities, leveraging technology to improve access and outcomes.
  • Teaching and Leadership Opportunities: Mentor medical students and residents, providing guidance and mentorship in psychiatry and leadership development, while participating in Interior Health's NAVIG8 Program.

Estimated Remuneration: $250,000 - $400,000 per year, plus MOCAP level 2 benefits.
Relocation Funding Available: Up to $15,000 to support your move to Kelowna, based on eligible receipts.
