About the Role

Interior Health seeks a highly skilled and experienced Chief Medical Health Officer to lead its Population and Public Health programs. This is an exciting opportunity for a medical professional with a strong background in public health and leadership.

Job Summary

The Chief Medical Health Officer will be responsible for leading all population and public health programs, including health promotion, disease and injury prevention, and health protection. The successful candidate will also oversee the work of Interior Health's Medical Health Officers and play a key role in epidemiology and surveillance.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead population and public health programs, including health promotion, disease and injury prevention, and health protection
  • Oversee the work of Interior Health's Medical Health Officers
  • Play a key role in epidemiology and surveillance
  • Perform duties as a Medical Health Officer, as defined in provincial legislation
Requirements

To be considered for this role, candidates must have a medical degree with full licensure in the Province of British Columbia, Fellowship in Public Health and Preventive Medicine from the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada, and leadership training appropriate to the role. A minimum of 10 years of Public Health experience in progressively senior leadership roles in an integrated health system environment is also required.

Competitive Salary and Benefits

The salary for this position is estimated to be $180,000-$220,000 per year, depending on experience. In addition to a competitive salary, Interior Health offers a comprehensive benefits package, including extended health and dental coverage, medical service plan, and relocation allowance.
