Job Summary
The Manager, Engineering Processes plays a pivotal role in driving strategic initiatives within the Engineering value map. Key responsibilities include project management, communication with stakeholders, cost optimization, and governance forum facilitation. This position requires strong leadership skills to oversee the implementation of corporate strategy and ensure alignment with long-term business goals.
Main Responsibilities
Strategic Portfolio Management- Align programs and initiatives across Engineering sub-functions to support corporate strategy.
- Link organizational dependencies to highlight cost and benefits over time.
- Prioritize functional goals and priorities to ensure direct connection to long-term business objectives.
- Document and communicate the strategic portfolio to key stakeholders to ensure understanding of value drivers.
- Foster governance forums for process updates, issue escalation, and information dissemination.
- Collaborate with the leadership team to finalize materials for executive committee.
- Support change management activities into project and implementation plans.
- Identify and address potential risks and resistance associated with change.
- Communicate project and program initiatives to stakeholders to maintain engagement and support.
Administrative Functions
- Oversee Engineering townhall and collaboration workshops to ensure integrated planning and stakeholder involvement.
- Draft, review, and execute communications on behalf of Vice President, Engineering.
Working Conditions
This role operates in an office environment with standard working conditions. The incumbent must be able to handle pressure and stress while managing multiple projects and meet tight deadlines.
Requirements
Experience- A minimum of 5 years of previous management experience is required, including experience interacting with executives and handling multiple stakeholders.
- Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration or Operations Management is preferred.
- Master's Degree in Business Administration (preferred) or equivalent.
- Change Management (PROSCI) certification (desired).
- Project Management (PMP) certification (desired).
- Demonstrates agility and drives change effectively.
- Knowledge of industry needs and ability to stay current.
- Collaborative mindset with strong communication skills.
- Results-driven leader who inspires others.
- Effective communicator who can adapt to different audiences.
- Safety-conscious leader who prioritizes employee well-being.
- Strong computer skills and proficiency in Systems, Applications, and Products (SAP), Business Warehouse (BW), Microsoft Office, and CN internal Systems.
- Familiarity with railroad operations and back-office processes.
- Understanding of technology trends, change management, and project management strategies.
Salary Range: $120,000 - $180,000 per year, depending on qualifications and experience.
