The Halifax Regional Centre for Education is a leading education institution in Atlantic Canada, serving over 58,000 students in 137 schools. As a School Administrative Assistant, you will play a vital role in supporting the school's day-to-day operations, working closely with the school principal and other team members.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Providing administrative support to the school, including answering phone calls, responding to emails, and maintaining records.
  • Assisting with student and parent inquiries, and providing information and support as needed.
  • Coordinating events, meetings, and activities, and ensuring smooth communication with staff and stakeholders.
  • Processing payroll, managing budgets, and maintaining accurate financial records.
  • Developing and implementing administrative procedures and policies to ensure efficiency and effectiveness.

Qualifications:

  • Completion of a diploma/certificate program in Office Administration, Secretarial Science, or a related field.
  • Minimum 2 years of experience in a fast-paced office environment, with proficiency in computer systems, word processing, spreadsheets, and databases.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with students, parents, and staff.

Working Conditions:

This is a 10-month per year position, with a work schedule in accordance with the school year calendar. The successful candidate will be required to work 35 hours per week, Monday to Friday, between 7:30 am and 4:30 pm. The position is located at the Halifax Regional Centre for Education, and the successful candidate will be required to work within the school's established policies and procedures.
