Emergency Nurse Specialist

The University of Alberta Hospital (UAH) is a leading clinical, research and teaching institution. As an Emergency Nurse in this environment, you will have opportunities to work in a state-of-the-art facility using electronic tracking systems.
This role involves assessing, planning, implementing, and evaluating care for emergency patients in a collaborative multidisciplinary health care team environment. You may be required to work in various areas of the Emergency department at the discretion of the Unit Manager/Charge Nurse.
As a Registered Nurse, you will provide a wide range of nursing services to patients, families, communities, and populations while prioritizing their safety and well-being.
To excel in this position, you must utilize critical thinking, problem-solving, and decision-making skills to teach, counsel, and advocate on behalf of patients and their families.
This leadership role supports an integrated and holistic approach to patient care, health promotion, and maintenance. You will provide safe, quality patient-centered care that aligns with the shared vision and values of Alberta Health Services.
Please note that provisional permit holders will be paid between $35.87 and $43.82 per hour. Upon entering the register of Registered Nurses, your hourly rate will be adjusted according to AHS/UNA Article 25.02(b)(i) or (ii).
A minimum of 2 years of medical/surgical/acute care experience is required, along with current Basic Cardiac Life Support certification and registration with the College of Registered Nurses of Alberta.
Prior experience in emergency nursing, especially in a tertiary/urban center, is highly valued. Recent critical care experience within the last 2 years and certifications like ACLS, TNCC, ENPC, PALS, and NRP are also preferred.
You must be able to lift, push, pull equipment, stand for extended periods, walk, and transport patients. This role demands strong organizational and assessment skills, as well as excellent patient care and leadership abilities.
