Job Description

We are seeking an experienced Registered Nurse to join our Critical Care team at the University of Alberta Hospital. As a critical care nurse specialist, you will be part of an interdisciplinary team providing evidence-based care to critically ill patients with complex health needs.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide direct patient care to critically ill patients in the General Systems Intensive Care Unit and the Edmonton Firefighters' Burn Treatment Unit.
  • Collaborate with other healthcare professionals to develop and implement individualized care plans for patients.
  • Participate in education and training programs to stay up-to-date with the latest best practices and technologies in critical care nursing.
  • Maintain accurate and detailed records of patient care activities and outcomes.

Requirements:

  • Completion of an accredited nursing education program.
  • Active or eligible for registration and practice permit with the College of Registered Nurses of Alberta (CRNA).
  • Current Basic Cardiac Life Support - Health Care Provider (BCLS-HCP) certification.
  • Previous experience within an ICU setting, observation room, inpatient trauma, or experience with ventilated patients is preferred.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Certifications, training, or experience with ACLS, TNCC, CNA Critical Care Certification, intermittent hemodialysis and/or CRRT, cardiac rhythm analysis, Pacemakers, Cardioversion/Defibrillation, Emergency Cardiac Arrest Management, External Ventricular Devices, and advanced hemodynamic monitoring.
