Job Summary

Camosun College is seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented Procurement Specialist to join our Purchasing and Finance team. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for providing purchasing and clerical support, assisting in the procurement of goods and services, and ensuring compliance with established procedures.

Key Responsibilities
  • Procurement and Ordering: Place orders for assigned requisitions, determine the best method to obtain vendor quotes, and analyze bids and documents to ensure compliance with approved college purchasing policies and procedures.
  • Vendor Management: Research and communicate with vendors, coordinate the college's credit card program, and maintain vendor registration files and catalogues.
  • Record Keeping and Reporting: Prepare detailed spreadsheets for bid analysis and recommendation to award, and maintain various departmental records.
  • Clerical Support: Perform a variety of clerical work involving databases and spreadsheets, take messages, and direct inquiries to appropriate personnel.
Requirements
  • Education: Grade 12 plus a Supply Management Training program Diploma (SMT), or a related Business Diploma, current enrollment in the Supply Chain Management Association (SCMP) Designation program, and three years related experience, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Skills: Demonstrated customer service skills, proven communication and interpersonal skills, proven keyboarding skills, working knowledge of MS Office Suite, ability to work independently and manage a heavy workload with constant deadlines, experience in web-based ordering systems, and ability to occasionally lift up to 18kg.
