Job Summary
The Indigenous Health and Reconciliation Specialist plays a critical role in advancing health equity and inclusion at Hamilton Health Sciences. This position is responsible for supporting better health outcomes for Indigenous patients by informing program development and organizational approaches to Indigenous health.
Key Responsibilities
- Align services to meet the needs of Indigenous patients
- Collect and analyze data to inform program development
- Engage and train staff on Indigenous cultural safety and reconciliation
- Build relationships with the Indigenous community to facilitate coordinated approaches
Qualifications
- Undergraduate degree in Indigenous Studies, Public Health, Health Administration, or related field
- Knowledge of the local Indigenous community and its programs and supports
- Understanding of Indigenous history, culture, and social determinants of health
- Experience working with Indigenous communities and traditional healers
- Knowledge of relevant legislation and policies
