The Hamilton Regional Indian Centre (HRIC) is a culturally based Indigenous organization committed to driving positive change for the community. As a staff member, you will have opportunities for professional growth, access to Elders and Traditional Knowledge Keepers, and a generous benefit package.
We strive to uphold pre-colonial management and policy structure while maintaining a supportive work atmosphere. Our organization offers flexibility, with additional compensation including five paid cultural days, four paid holidays beyond Employment Standards, a paid shutdown over the Christmas holiday week, and health benefits for full-time permanent employees.
As an inclusive employer, we are committed to providing a barrier-free work environment in line with the Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act and the Ontario Human Rights Code. We make accommodations available to applicants with disabilities during the recruitment process.
We aim to ensure our employment practices are free from direct and indirect discrimination, upholding human rights throughout the hiring process and employment tenure. Since this position primarily serves Indigenous people's interests, we give preference to Indigenous candidates who possess relevant skill sets and experience.
This role involves leading efforts to effectively market HRIC housing programs to landlords and property managers, aiming to expand available units for program participants. Key responsibilities include identifying permanent housing units, developing partnerships with landlords, working with Urban Indigenous Homeward Bound Navigators, and ensuring participants can access and sustain housing.
