Job Summary

The Salvation Army is seeking a highly motivated and experienced individual to fill the role of Youth and Family Life Coordinator. This position will be responsible for organizing and facilitating spiritual formation and development opportunities for youth, children, and families within Edmonton Temple Community and Family Services.

Key Responsibilities
  • Program Development and Implementation
    • Work in partnership with the Community Ministries Coordinator to create and promote Youth programs to serve CFS clients.
    • Contribute to the spiritual development of children and youth by mentoring, discipling, encouraging, and modeling appropriate Christian attitudes and behaviors.
    • Develop new programs to encourage the spiritual development of children and youth.
    • Coordinate and maintain programs relevant to youth and children within the Corps and in the community at large.
  • Volunteer Coordination and Management
    • Recruit, direct, and supervise volunteers for children and youth programs.
    • Give oversight and ensure ongoing training of youth leaders/volunteers.
    • Deal with volunteer complaints and incident reports.
  • Financial and Administrative
    • Maintain the annual budget, ensuring diligent stewardship of resources.
    • Maintain records and provide program evaluations and/or statistical information as required.
    • Implement policies and procedures for Youth Ministries in collaboration with the Corps Officer.
Qualifications and Education Requirements
  • Completed a post-secondary certificate/college diploma program in the field of Children/Youth.
  • Minimum of two (2) years of prior related experience working with children and youth programming, youth leadership; supervisory experience coaching, leading, and motivating volunteers.
Preferred Skills and Capabilities
  • Self-motivated/disciplined with effective time management and organizational skills.
  • Ability to work well within a cooperative team environment and follow the direction of the immediate supervisor.
  • Possess strong interpersonal and conflict management skills, including the ability to maintain appropriate confidentiality.
