Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled Rehabilitation Assistant to join our team at Baillie House in Maple Ridge, BC. As a key member of our healthcare team, you will assist therapists in implementing programs to meet the needs of residents/patients, and perform tasks within Residential Care.

Responsibilities
  1. Assist therapists in organizing, preparing, and implementing therapeutic programs for assigned residents/patients.
  2. Participate in resident/patient activities of daily living by demonstrating and assisting with self-care and meal-management.
  3. Assist with resident/patient mobility, including provision of appropriate wheelchair seating, strengthening exercises, walking programs, and transfer to/from bed and chair.
  4. Assist in fabrication of splints and adaptive devices, as well as modification of patient clothing, self-care, and eating utensils.
  5. Report relevant observations concerning resident/patient progress and condition to other care team members.
  6. Complete statistics and records program information as required.
  7. Maintain an inventory of equipment, supplies, and wheelchairs on loan to patients; notify senior therapist when inventory is low.
  8. Keep work area tidy by performing specific duties such as cleaning, storing, and tidying.
  9. Perform other related duties as assigned.
Qualifications

Education and Experience:

  • Completion of a Rehabilitation Assistant Program or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.

Skills and Abilities:

  • Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.
  • Ability to deal with others effectively.
  • Physical ability to carry out the duties of the position.
  • Ability to organize work.
  • Ability to operate related equipment.
