About the Role

The Squamish Nation is seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Senior Health Care Assistant to join our Yúustway Health and Wellness Department. As a key member of our team, you will provide exceptional health care assistance to our clients and support the Lead Nurse Assessor in ensuring the smooth daily operations of our Home and Community Care program.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide senior-level health care assistance to clients, including personal care, homemaking, and complex care services
  • Support the HCC Field Staff in providing quality and culturally safe home care services
  • Act as the first point of contact and direct supervisor for the HCC Health Care Assistants and Homemakers
  • Cross-train in day-to-day duties of the HCC Client Care Coordinator and HCC Better at Home Program Coordinator
  • Provide education and training supports to the HCC Field Staff with guidance from Nurse Assessors

Requirements

  • Combination of relevant experience, education, and training
  • Strict adherence to BC Care Aide and Community Health Worker Registry guidelines
  • Skilled in people leadership and conflict management within a dynamic staff team
  • Strong understanding of lateral kindness, cultural safety, and humility in an Indigenous community context
  • Professional communication style with strong interpersonal skills
  • Elevated emotional intelligence, patience, and integrity
  • Maintains composure in high-pressure situations
