Position Overview

The Clinical Nurse Specialist operates under the guidance of the Health Services Manager, playing a crucial role within a multidisciplinary team. This position is responsible for coordinating and delivering clinical management to patients facing intricate health challenges within a specified patient demographic. The Nurse Clinician serves as a valuable resource for fellow healthcare professionals and the community.

Key Responsibilities

  • Utilize advanced nursing skills and knowledge to function independently as a clinical practitioner, leader, consultant, and educator.
  • Support families across various regions, ensuring comprehensive care is provided.

Experience Requirements

  • A minimum of three years of recent clinical experience in a relevant nursing specialty is essential.

Educational Qualifications

  • Graduation from an accredited Registered Nursing program is required.
  • A Bachelor of Nursing Degree is preferred.
  • Completion of a relevant post-basic program may be required or preferred in specific areas.

Licensure and Certification

  • Current registration or eligibility for registration with the College of Registered Nurses is mandatory.
  • Active involvement in professional organizations is preferred.
  • Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) training must comply with employer policies.

Qualifications and Skills

  • Demonstrated proficiency in the scope of practice as outlined in the Regulated Health Professions Act.
  • Strong computer skills, including familiarity with software applications.
  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal abilities.
  • Preference for candidates with competence in Indigenous languages and knowledge of Indigenous customs.
  • Commitment to a family-centered approach in nursing care.
  • Advanced clinical expertise in a subspecialty area.
  • Dedication to ongoing professional development through literature review and educational opportunities.
  • Expertise in nursing practice, including interviewing, counseling, teaching, and group dynamics.
  • Ability to work autonomously while collaborating effectively with patients, families, and team members.
  • Capacity to build and maintain productive relationships with healthcare providers and community stakeholders.
  • Exhibit initiative, accountability, and strong organizational skills.
  • Knowledge of research methodologies and quality assurance practices.

Physical Demands

  • Moderate to heavy physical exertion may be required.
  • Flexibility in work hours may be necessary.
  • Occasional travel to community organizations and healthcare facilities may be required.

This position may conclude earlier than anticipated as per collective agreements.
