Technical Support Engineer – Electronics Solutions

Connect Tech Inc. is seeking a skilled and enthusiastic individual to become a part of our Technical Support Engineering division. This team collaborates closely with clients, our Design Engineers, Software Developers, and Sales/Manufacturing teams, gaining extensive exposure to our product offerings, design processes, manufacturing techniques, and field-related challenges. In this multifaceted and stimulating position, candidates will encounter intricate scenarios that necessitate technical expertise for effective problem resolution. This role serves as an excellent foundation for future hardware and software engineering opportunities within the organization.

Our engineering team engages with prominent entities in the electronics sector, delivering computing solutions for Unmanned Systems across various domains including ground, air, and maritime applications, defense, vision systems, machine learning, security, and finance, among others.

Key Responsibilities:

The ideal candidate will operate within Connect Tech's engineering group, providing support for our latest innovations. Responsibilities include:

  • Resolving intricate issues utilizing cutting-edge technology tools such as integrated development environments, high-bandwidth oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, and debuggers.
  • Conducting thorough quality assurance on our newest prototypes by validating software and hardware functionality across diverse operating systems and testing environments.
  • Developing and designing application test code, testing software, benchmarking tools, and test scripts.
  • Collaborating with hardware and software engineering teams to address problem resolutions.
  • Delivering prompt and effective first-line assistance to external engineers and other technical clients utilizing Connect Tech's products.
  • Setting up, testing, and replicating customer hardware, software, networking, and application issues.
  • Supporting our sales team by providing engineering insights both prior to and following sales.
  • Assisting the manufacturing department with failure diagnostics and modifications to test code.
  • Potentially providing on-site product support or enhancements.
Essential Skills and Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related field (New Graduates are encouraged to apply).
  • Strong verbal and written communication abilities.
  • A quick learner with a willingness to thrive in a fast-paced environment.
  • Self-motivated and well-organized.
  • Outstanding analytical and problem-solving skills with meticulous attention to detail.
  • Familiarity and interest in contemporary operating systems including Linux L4T/Ubuntu/Fedora/Debian/RHEL and Windows 10 (down to XP).
  • Experience with C, Python, and related compilers in a Linux OS environment.
  • Understanding of computer bus and interconnection standards such as PCI Express, PCI, USB, SATA, CAN, I2C, SPI, RS-232/485.
  • Applicants must meet the requirements and regulations defined in the Controlled Goods Regulations under the Canadian Defence Production Act, as well as the regulations prescribed under the International Traffic in Arms Regulation (ITAR) Title 22, Parts of the United States Code of Federal Regulations.
Additional Assets:
  • Experience with Embedded Systems, NVIDIA Jetson, and GPUs.
  • Low-level C programming experience or familiarity with device drivers.
  • Experience with QNX, Android, or other embedded operating systems.
  • Knowledge of low-level networking protocols including TCP, UDP, as well as familiarity with higher-level protocols such as FTP, Telnet, SNMP, SNTP, and HTTP.
  • Ability to interpret electronic schematics.
  • Experience with FPGA tools such as Xilinx Vivado and Altera Quartus.
  • Customer Support or Service experience.
