Position Overview

The (Senior) Account Manager - CMHC, Commercial Services is tasked with providing exceptional service to both existing and prospective Business Members while integrating FirstOntario Business into the community to establish itself as the preferred business lender. This role also involves supporting FirstOntario Credit Union's strategic objectives by meeting sales targets related to loans, mortgages, deposits, and fees, with a focus on driving business primarily in CMHC Multi-unit Residential assets.

Key Responsibilities

  • Serve as a trusted advisor to your members, offering credible guidance through dedicated support and service that enhances volumes of commercial CMHC insured business.
  • Oversee the underwriting, management, and administration of commercial loans within your portfolio.
  • Handle CMHC insured multi-residential mortgage origination, both directly and through third-party partners.
  • Collaborate closely with our Treasury Department to maintain and develop relationships with third-party partners.
  • Manage all aspects of credit underwriting for CMHC transactions and review those underwritten by third-party partners.
  • Supervise the sourcing, credit write-up, adjudication, and review of Commercial credit files, focusing on CMHC insured transactions while ensuring risk mitigation strategies are in place.
  • Proactively manage credit portfolio reviews to ensure timely completion before annual expiry dates, including tracking and analyzing annual reporting requirements from each Member.
  • Identify opportunities within sales targets promptly and implement action plans accordingly.
  • Execute a disciplined sales/service plan and processes, effectively utilizing campaigns developed by business partners to meet annual financial targets.
  • Act as the primary contact for third-party CMHC origination partner firms in collaboration with Treasury.
  • Actively seek new CMHC origination business.
  • Build a network within the CMHC MURM (Multi Unit Residential Mortgage) sector.
  • Develop expertise in the CMHC MURM sector for FirstOntario.
  • Work closely with the Treasury Department on securitization opportunities for CMHC insured MURMs.
  • Engage with the local business community by participating in various local business associations and representing FirstOntario at special business events.
  • Prioritize health & safety to ensure the well-being of yourself and others.
  • Perform additional duties as required.

Qualifications

  • Possess a post-secondary diploma or degree in Business Administration, Commerce, and/or Economics, or equivalent industry experience.
  • Demonstrate strong business acumen with four to six (4-6) years of experience in Business/Commercial banking or other Member-facing and/or Credit adjudication roles.
  • Have five plus (5+) years of experience in Commercial Real Estate underwriting; Development and Construction underwriting is considered an asset.
  • CMHC underwriting experience is advantageous.
  • Stay informed about all credit and investment products and services, maintaining current knowledge of our processes.
  • Exhibit sales management skills in setting and monitoring sales targets, plans, pipelines, and activities.
  • Be aware of and mitigate enterprise risk factors, ensuring compliance with applicable regulations, legislation, and FirstOntario policies and procedures.
  • Be willing to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends, as required, and travel to meet member needs.
