Position Overview

Key Responsibilities

The Account Manager for Commercial Services is responsible for providing exceptional service to both existing and prospective Business Members while integrating FirstOntario Business into the community to establish it as the preferred business lender. This role also plays a vital part in supporting FirstOntario Credit Union's strategic objectives by meeting sales targets related to loans, mortgages, deposits, and fees, with the aim of driving business growth.

  • Act as a trusted advisor to members, offering reliable guidance through dedicated support and service that enhances Share of Wallet targets
  • Manage the underwriting, administration, and oversight of commercial loans within your portfolio
  • Supervise the sourcing, credit write-up, adjudication, and review of Commercial credit files, ensuring the implementation of risk mitigation strategies, including audits
  • Proactively conduct credit portfolio reviews to ensure timely completion ahead of annual expiry dates, which may involve tracking, pursuing, and analyzing annual reporting requirements from each Member
  • Identify sales target opportunities promptly and execute action plans accordingly
  • Provide solid credit recommendations to relevant departments, including but not limited to the Credit Department, Management Credit Committee, and occasionally to the Board, to support business objectives and deliver comprehensive service to our members
  • Implement a disciplined sales/service strategy, effectively utilizing campaigns developed by business partners to achieve annual financial goals

Qualifications and Technical Requirements

  • A post-secondary diploma or degree in Business Administration, Commerce, and/or Economics, or equivalent industry experience
  • A strong business acumen developed through four to eight (4-8) years in Business/Commercial banking or related Member-facing and/or Credit adjudication roles
  • Over five (5+) years of experience in Commercial Real Estate underwriting; experience in Development and Construction underwriting is an asset
  • Sales/business development experience within the Commercial banking sector
