The Marketing and Communications team aims to lead the industry in client engagement through innovation. Our skilled team works closely with business partners to enhance client experiences, ensuring value at every interaction. We strategically align our initiatives to support the organization's business goals.
The Bilingual Translator will provide comprehensive English to French translation services to meet the increasing demand for French communication within The Co-operators group. This role encompasses translation and editing tasks, minimizing reliance on external translation services.
Key Responsibilities:
- Translate diverse written communications from English to French, often under tight deadlines, while preserving the content, context, and style of the original text. Regular audits will be conducted to ensure quality and consistency.
- Conduct research on terminology and language-specific phrases to ensure accurate translations. Engage in team discussions to confirm precise terminology.
- Occasionally proofread, review, and edit translations completed by external translators for accuracy and consistency, making necessary adjustments.
- Collaborate with internal clients to clarify project details and ensure the final product meets their specifications.
- Stay updated on industry tools and resources relevant to translation services.

Requirements:
- A university degree in translation or a related field.
- 3 - 4 years of experience as a translator in a business environment, preferably within the insurance or financial services sector.
- Professional Translation accreditation is advantageous.
- Fluency in both English and French is mandatory.
- Familiarity with translation support software and resources, such as SDL Trados Studio and SDL MultiTerm, is preferred.
- Proficiency in both languages is essential for fulfilling the primary duties of this role, including servicing and communicating with primarily English-speaking and French-speaking clients, groups, and teams.
