We are in search of a Bilingual Legal Translator and Interpreter fluent in Spanish and French to enhance our team.

  • A university degree in translation or a related field, or equivalent professional experience in high-level translation with a college diploma;
  • Proven experience translating between Spanish and French, covering a range of text complexities;
  • Must be a permanent resident or citizen;
  • Exceptional proficiency in written and spoken French and Spanish, ideally as a native or extensively studied language (knowledge of an additional language is advantageous, preferably English);
  • Strong ability to grasp linguistic subtleties in both languages;
  • Competence in Microsoft Office, particularly Word and Excel;
  • Willingness to work on-site at our office.

Preferred Skills and Qualifications:

  • 2 to 5 years of relevant experience;
  • Experience in legal, social services, or immigration sectors;
  • Active or previous engagement in community work with refugees or immigrant populations;
  • A Bachelor’s degree in Law;
  • Knowledge of an additional language is a plus (preferably English or alternatively Arabic, Punjabi, or Haitian Creole);
  • Previous leadership experience in a professional setting;
  • Accurate translation of documents between French and Spanish and vice versa;
  • Ensure consistency in terminology and cultural equivalence;
  • Review translated documents for accuracy and adherence to standards;
  • Draft texts in Spanish or French as required;
  • Engage in consultations with Spanish-speaking clients and act as an interpreter;
  • Maintain communication with clients for case updates;
  • Collaborate with external personnel as necessary;
  • Oversee translation projects;
  • Guide and mentor fellow translators, taking on a leadership role within the firm;
  • Commit to achieving the firm's objectives;
  • Suggest improvements to enhance productivity and task management.
