Job Title:

Senior Mental Health Clinical Therapist

Position Overview:

Currently, there is an opening for the role of Senior Mental Health Clinical Therapist within the organization. This position focuses on delivering specialized mental health treatment services.

Key Responsibilities:

The selected candidate will engage in a variety of tasks, including but not limited to:

  1. Designing, executing, and assessing programs aimed at providing targeted mental health services.
  2. Managing various aspects of program administration, which may include budgeting, planning, and compliance with federal and state regulations.
  3. Maintaining comprehensive case records and statistical data related to workload and client interactions.
  4. Preparing and overseeing documentation such as assessments, progress reports, treatment plans, and discharge summaries.

Specific Duties in Community Counseling:

  1. Delivering intensive individual and group therapy to clients, including families and children facing emotional and social challenges.
  2. Collaborating with the clinic team to assess and diagnose clients, contributing mental health expertise to treatment planning.
  3. Conducting thorough intake assessments for new or returning clients.
  4. Providing consultation to community organizations to enhance their understanding of individual cases.
  5. Participating in training programs for clinic staff and collaborating agencies.
  6. Engaging in community outreach through presentations and discussions related to mental health initiatives.
  7. Connecting clients with community resources for additional support.
  8. Working closely with the Program Director to develop policies and supervise clinical staff, particularly in school-based services.
  9. Being part of the on-call team for emergency crisis interventions.
  10. Occasionally transporting clients as needed.

Specific Duties in Correctional Settings:

  1. Conducting assessments and intake evaluations for inmates as requested.
  2. Creating treatment plans in collaboration with mental health and correctional staff to address inmates' psychosocial needs.
  3. Reviewing cases and advising on treatment strategies for junior clinicians.
  4. Providing ongoing psychotherapy and crisis intervention for inmates.
  5. Gathering relevant information from family members and other professionals regarding inmates' backgrounds.
  6. Coordinating services for inmates requiring additional support during incarceration.
  7. Facilitating referrals to community services to aid in reintegration post-release.
  8. Monitoring treatment progress and maintaining communication with inmates and service providers.
  9. Attending necessary meetings and training sessions to stay informed on best practices in mental health and corrections.

Qualifications:
Applicants must possess a Master's degree in Mental Health Counseling or a related field, along with appropriate licensure as mandated by New York State regulations. Verification of degree equivalency is required for degrees obtained outside the United States.
