Schlegel Villages is offering a unique and rewarding opportunity for a dedicated and seasoned clinical professional to become part of our Support Office team as a Clinical Operations Specialist. This position is designed to provide clinical guidance to our Village teams throughout the organization, encompassing both Retirement and Long-Term Care facilities. This role has been established to facilitate Schlegel Villages' expansion across Ontario.

The Support Office is situated in Kitchener, and this role will extend support to Villages across Ontario, with a flexible geographical home base for candidates, although regular travel will be a requirement.

In your role as the Clinical Operations Specialist, you will:

Join the Support Office team and assist Village clinical leadership teams in advocating and developing exemplary nursing care and clinical services for our residents across both Long-Term Care and Retirement Home environments. You will play a crucial role in our ongoing quality improvement initiatives for clinical services, helping us prioritize resident well-being.

The Clinical Operations Specialist embodies the values of Schlegel Villages, promoting trust, compassion, stability, and hope while fostering the growth and development of those they support. You will cultivate internal and external relationships by exemplifying a servant leadership approach.

This position will support the comprehensive model in our Villages, including both Long-Term Care and Retirement. The ideal candidate will assist clinical teams in both sectors regarding regulations, compliance, and best practices. Success in this role necessitates knowledge of RAI MDS from supporting a multi-location RAI team.

Desired Qualifications:

- Certification through the Gerontological Nursing Certificate (GNC) or an equivalent qualification in senior-specific care and experience with Point Click Care is preferred.

- Established Culture of Compliance and Continuous Improvement: Foster a culture of compliance and continuous improvement by monitoring and enhancing the quality of care in LTC and Retirement Homes.
- Exceptional Quality and Compliance Indicators: Ensure high standards of quality and compliance across all Villages.

Key Responsibilities:

Training & Education:
- Support the professional practice of Village Leadership Teams as applicable.
- Educate, onboard, coach, mentor, and support Village Clinical Leaders and Team Members, in collaboration with Village Leadership, SVP/VP Operations, and AVP Clinical Support.
- Deliver education aligned with Schlegel Villages programs, initiatives, policies, and procedures.
- Assist in implementing and revising programs, offering innovative suggestions to minimize resistance to change.

Compliance:
- Address high-risk issues promptly.
- Support Villages in meeting regulatory requirements and upholding Schlegel Village Culture and Values.
- Promote compliance with both regulatory requirements and Schlegel Village standards.

Continuous Quality Improvement:
- Ensure effective operation and Continuous Quality Improvement (CQI) of the homes.
- Manage CQI and Accreditation programs in accordance with Schlegel Village standards and regulatory requirements.
- Support the utilization of quality improvement frameworks through program reviews, audits, and data analysis.
- Monitor and analyze quality indicators and adverse events, conducting quality reviews as needed.

Required Education, Credentials & Experience:
- Minimum 5 years of experience in Long-Term Care or Retirement Homes, preferably at a leadership level.
- Familiarity with using data to drive decisions and translating policies into practice.
- Experience in gerontology, continuous quality improvement, research, adult learning, and change management.
- Strong knowledge of RAI-MDS.
- Ability to facilitate learning and demonstrate strong leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
- Proficiency in computer applications and analytical thinking.
- Registered Nurse (RN) or Registered Practical Nurse (RPN) with current registration with the College of Nurses of Ontario.
- Willingness to travel within your region and across Ontario as required.
