Position Summary

Reporting to the Maintenance Superintendent, the Maintenance Planner is tasked with organizing and scheduling maintenance activities within the facility. This role involves close collaboration with the Extraction, Refinery, and Material Handling superintendents to prioritize urgent repairs and strategize preventative maintenance. The Maintenance Planner will support a dedicated team of approximately 15-18 full-time maintenance professionals, including millwrights, pipefitters, and electricians. Effective collaboration with both salaried and hourly team members is essential for the success of the site.

The facility operates year-round, and this position is responsible for supporting all shifts.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and modify work orders to ensure precision and uniformity.
  • Conduct site inspections to create job plans in partnership with department superintendents and lead maintenance personnel.
  • Leverage expertise for estimating labor needs, safety protocols, tools, materials, and components.
  • Establish and manage work order priorities for daily, weekly, and monthly tasks.
  • Oversee work orders that necessitate plant downtime.
  • Plan for annual and semi-annual shutdowns.
  • Collaborate with the Warehouse Supervisor to guarantee the availability of necessary spare parts.
  • Assist in managing inventory for reorder levels and minimum/maximum counts.
  • Report on maintenance KPIs, including schedules and preventative maintenance.
  • Implement proactive maintenance reliability practices to minimize unplanned downtime.
  • Adopt best practices and continuous improvement methodologies.
  • Utilize the Performance Excellence framework.


Required Skills and Qualifications
  • Proven self-starter with the ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Results-oriented, providing support to achieve objectives set by leadership.
  • Strong decision-making and problem-solving capabilities.
  • Exceptional organizational skills with the ability to juggle multiple responsibilities.
  • Proficient in computer applications, particularly Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Ability to work in diverse environments, including extreme temperatures, noisy settings, heights, and dusty conditions, while adhering to safety protocols.
  • Physical capability to navigate stairs, ladders, catwalks, and elevated platforms, along with some lifting, prolonged sitting, and standing, as well as bending and kneeling.
Education and Experience
  • Preferred: Minimum of 2 years of experience in planning.
  • Preferred: Background in manufacturing plant maintenance.
  • Beneficial experience includes extraction, grain handling, oilseed processing, or manufacturing and oil refining.
