Position Overview

The Maintenance Operations Supervisor is tasked with overseeing and directing the efforts of both skilled and unskilled maintenance personnel. This role ensures adherence to established procedures and methods to effectively maintain, repair, and service equipment, buildings, and facilities, all while complying with relevant building codes and safety regulations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Ensure optimal functioning of production equipment to meet organizational standards and minimize downtime.
  • Conduct inspections of projects to verify compliance with specifications and manage safety inspections alongside preventative maintenance initiatives.
  • Maintain an adequate inventory of materials, parts, and specialized tools necessary for maintenance operations.
  • Foster positive employee relations by addressing complaints and providing support for personnel issues.
  • Perform performance evaluations for all maintenance staff to ensure high standards of work.
  • Guarantee the availability of appropriate parts and supplies for maintenance tasks.
  • Oversee all planned maintenance and predictive maintenance activities.
  • Manage IFS software and ensure all documentation is current and accurate.
  • Coordinate with contractors to obtain quotes in collaboration with the maintenance buyer.
  • Act as the department champion to ensure all contractors possess the necessary documentation.
  • Review completed inspection forms to confirm that all maintenance, repair, and inspection tasks have been performed satisfactorily.
  • Analyze assembly drawings to determine required parts and assembly processes.
  • Establish work schedules and prioritize tasks to accommodate urgent needs and changes.
  • Develop and oversee detailed schedules for overhauls, repairs, and preventative maintenance of tools, equipment, and vehicles.
  • Manage operating and project budgets effectively.

Qualifications

  • Must hold a valid electrician license (309A or 442A).
  • Possession of another journeyperson trade certification in a relevant field is considered an asset.
  • Completion of secondary education or equivalent general education is required.
  • MMP (Maintenance Management Professional) certification is an asset.
  • A minimum of five years of experience in a maintenance machining environment, including at least two years in a supervisory role.
  • Intermediate proficiency in Microsoft and other relevant software applications.
  • Familiarity with fire alarm systems, including sprinklers and the Ontario fire code.
  • Experience utilizing Pareto analysis for failure diagnostics.
