About the Role
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Maintenance Supervisor to join our underground maintenance team at our Ojibway Mine location. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for supervising unionized skilled trades employees and overseeing maintenance and preventive maintenance on stationary and mobile equipment.
Key Responsibilities
- Supervise and coordinate the work of skilled trades employees, ensuring that tasks are completed efficiently and effectively.
- Develop and implement maintenance plans to minimize downtime and optimize equipment performance.
- Conduct regular safety inspections and ensure that all employees are following safe work practices.
- Collaborate with other departments to ensure that maintenance activities are aligned with business objectives.
- Provide training and coaching to employees to improve their skills and knowledge.
- Manage and maintain accurate records of maintenance activities, including work orders and inventory management.
- Communicate effectively with employees, management, and other stakeholders to ensure that maintenance activities are aligned with business objectives.
Requirements
- 3+ years of experience in maintenance supervision, preferably in an underground mining environment.
- Industrial Mechanic (433A) or Diesel Mechanic (310T) trade certification is an asset.
- Strong leadership and communication skills, with the ability to motivate and coach employees.
- Ability to read and understand technical manuals, blueprints, and hydraulic schematics.
- Knowledge of hydraulics, welding, rigging, diesel repair, basic electrical, and plumbing.
- Basic computer skills in Word and Excel, with experience in SAP a plus.
Working Conditions
- This role operates partially in a professional office environment and requires frequent travel to underground locations.
- Must be able to work in a fast-paced environment and adapt to changing priorities.
- Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds and work in a physically demanding environment.
