Overview:

Our client, a prominent multi-disciplinary contractor and manufacturer, is seeking to enhance their team with a seasoned Mechanical Site Superintendent for a full-time, permanent role. Key Responsibilities:
  • Maintain a safe work environment at all times, ensuring compliance with health and safety regulations and standards. Lead site safety initiatives, including inspections, safety meetings, and adherence to personal protective equipment (PPE) protocols.
  • Oversee the entire construction lifecycle, ensuring thorough follow-through on projects from inception to completion.
  • Guarantee that all projects are executed in alignment with contractual obligations.
  • Develop, implement, and adjust work plans for assigned mechanical projects to meet evolving requirements.
  • Manage and direct site personnel, trades, and subcontractors, ensuring performance meets expectations.
  • Review and ensure compliance of construction plans with relevant codes and regulations, including plumbing, mechanical, electrical, and HVAC standards.
  • Facilitate timely project progression, strategically planning tasks to meet deadlines and milestones.
  • Ensure all necessary permits and licenses are secured for project advancement.
  • Continuously monitor and communicate project progress to all relevant stakeholders.
  • Uphold quality standards for work and materials throughout the project.
  • Manage labor hours effectively.
  • Supervise assigned projects to ensure adherence to specifications, local codes, and installation methods.
  • Ensure subcontractors are well-informed of project expectations prior to commencement.
  • Communicate safety procedures and compliance expectations to subcontractors, ensuring adherence to company-wide safety policies.
  • Oversee testing, startup, and submission of field-level reports.
Qualifications for Success:
  • Relevant diploma, degree, or trade certification (e.g., Millwright, Plumbing, Sheet Metal, Gas Fitter) in Mechanical Engineering.
  • PMP certification or similar coursework in construction project management is advantageous.
  • A minimum of 5 years of experience in mechanical construction project management, encompassing contracts, budgeting, planning, and scheduling.
  • Experience in trades such as Steamfitting, Gasfitting, Welding, or Plumbing is beneficial.
  • A valid Ontario Driver's License (G License) is mandatory.
  • Strong understanding of applicable union agreements.
  • Extensive knowledge of provincial health and safety regulations and construction safety best practices; experience with COR is highly preferred.
  • Proven track record of delivering projects on time, within budget, and to specifications.
  • Proficient in MS Office Suite (Outlook, Excel, Project, Word); familiarity with Accubid is a plus.
  • Understanding of standard contract forms and construction processes (RFI, RFQ, Change Orders, etc.).
  • Able to interpret construction and engineering drawings and schematics.
  • Exhibit a positive attitude, proactive leadership skills, and a high level of professionalism and integrity.
  • Ability to multitask and resolve issues in a fast-paced environment.
  • Highly organized and detail-oriented, with a strong commitment to quality work.
  • Possess a valid G class driver's license with a clean driving record and willingness to travel to various job sites.
  • Willingness to travel to job sites as necessary.
