Overview:

Our client, a reputable multi-trade contractor and manufacturer, is seeking a highly skilled Mechanical Site Superintendent to join their team in a full-time, permanent capacity. With a strong commitment to delivering top-quality products and executing successful projects, this role is vital for maintaining the company's high standards.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Ensure site safety at all times, complying with the Occupational Health and Safety Act and relevant safety requirements. Lead job site inspections, safety meetings, and enforce health and safety protocols.
  • Oversee the entire construction process, ensuring projects are completed in accordance with contractual obligations.
  • Develop, implement, and adjust work plans for assigned mechanical projects to meet evolving needs.
  • Supervise site personnel, trades, and subcontractors, ensuring compliance with project requirements.
  • Review construction documentation for adherence to applicable codes and regulations, including plumbing, mechanical, electrical, and HVAC standards.
  • Manage project timelines, ensuring milestones and deadlines are consistently met.
  • Obtain all necessary permits and licenses to facilitate project progression.
  • Continuously monitor and report project status to stakeholders.
  • Maintain high standards for work quality and materials used.
  • Oversee labor hours and ensure compliance with specifications and local codes.
  • Communicate expectations clearly to subcontractors before project commencement.
  • Ensure subcontractors understand their responsibilities regarding safety procedures and company policies.
  • Manage testing, startup, and field-level reporting.
Qualifications:

  • Relevant diploma, degree, or trade certification (e.g., Millwright, Plumbing, Sheet Metal, Gas Fitter) in Mechanical Engineering.
  • PMP designation or related construction project management courses are advantageous.
  • A minimum of 5 years of experience in mechanical construction project management, including contracts, budgeting, planning, and scheduling.
  • Trade experience (e.g., Steamfitter, Gasfitter, Welder, Plumber) is a plus.
  • Valid Ontario Driver's License (G License) is required.
  • Strong knowledge of applicable union contracts and provincial health and safety regulations.
  • Proven track record of delivering projects on time and within budget.
  • Proficient in MS Office Suite (Outlook, Excel, Project, Word); experience with Accubid is a plus.
  • Familiarity with standard contract forms and construction processes (RFI, RFQ, Change Orders).
  • Ability to read and interpret construction and engineering drawings.
  • Exemplary leadership skills, professionalism, and integrity.
  • Strong multitasking and problem-solving abilities in high-pressure environments.
  • Highly organized, detail-oriented, and take pride in work quality.
  • Willingness to travel to job sites as required.
