Overview:

The Superintendent will oversee the comprehensive direction, coordination, implementation, execution, control, and completion of specific projects, ensuring alignment with the company's strategic objectives and commitments.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Maintain safety standards on-site at all times, complying with the Occupational Health and Safety Act and relevant safety requirements. Lead all site health and safety initiatives, including inspections, safety meetings, PPE protocols, health and safety plans, and incident management.
  • Engage in the entire construction process, ensuring thorough oversight from start to finish.
  • Guarantee project delivery in accordance with contractual obligations.
  • Develop, execute, and adjust work plans for assigned mechanical projects to meet evolving needs.
  • Organize and supervise site personnel, trades, and subcontractors, ensuring adherence to performance standards.
  • Review construction documents for compliance with applicable codes and regulations, including plumbing, mechanical, electrical, and HVAC standards.
  • Ensure timely project progression and strategize tasks to meet deadlines and milestones.
  • Secure all necessary permits and licenses to facilitate project advancement.
  • Continuously monitor and report project progress to all stakeholders.
  • Uphold quality standards for work and materials.
  • Manage labor hours effectively.
  • Oversee project compliance with specifications, local codes, and installation practices.
  • Ensure subcontractors are well-informed of project expectations prior to commencement.
  • Communicate safety responsibilities and expectations to subcontractors, ensuring compliance with company-wide safety policies.
  • Ensure submission of testing, startup, and field-level reports.
Qualifications:

  • Relevant diploma, degree, or trade certification (e.g., Millwright, Plumbing, Sheet Metal, Gas Fitter) in Mechanical Engineering.
  • PMP certification or related courses in construction project management are advantageous.
  • A minimum of 5 years of experience in mechanical construction project management, including contract management, cost estimation, planning, and scheduling.
  • Experience in trades such as Steamfitting, Gasfitting, Welding, or Plumbing is beneficial.
  • A valid Ontario Driver's License (G License) is mandatory.
  • Extensive knowledge of applicable union contracts.
  • Significant experience with provincial health and safety regulations and construction safety best practices. Familiarity with COR is highly desirable.
  • A proven track record of delivering projects on time, within budget, and to specifications.
  • Proficient in MS Office Suite (Outlook, Excel, Project, Word). Experience with Accubid is a plus.
  • Understanding of standard contract forms.
  • Knowledge of construction processes, including RFI, RFQ, and Change Orders.
  • Ability to interpret construction and engineering drawings and schematics.
  • A positive attitude with strong leadership skills, professionalism, accountability, and integrity.
  • Capability to multitask and resolve issues in a fast-paced environment.
  • Highly organized and detail-oriented, with a strong commitment to quality.
  • A valid G class driver's license with a clean driving record and willingness to travel to job sites as needed.
  • Flexibility to travel to various job sites, primarily within the local region but may include other areas as required.
