Position Overview:
MT Talent is seeking a seasoned Mechanical Site Superintendent to join our dynamic team. Our client, a well-respected multi-trade contractor, is known for delivering high-quality products and successfully managing diverse projects. This is a full-time, permanent role where you will play a crucial part in overseeing mechanical construction projects.
Key Responsibilities:
- Maintain a safe work environment by adhering to the Occupational Health and Safety Act and ensuring compliance with all safety protocols.
- Lead the construction process from start to finish, ensuring all phases of the project are executed effectively.
- Deliver projects in alignment with contractual obligations and specifications.
- Develop and manage work plans for mechanical projects, adjusting as necessary to meet evolving project demands.
- Supervise site personnel, trades, and subcontractors to ensure adherence to project requirements.
- Review and assess construction plans for compliance with relevant codes and regulations, including plumbing, mechanical, electrical, and HVAC standards.
- Ensure timely project progression by planning tasks to meet established deadlines and milestones.
- Obtain all necessary permits and licenses required for project execution.
- Continuously monitor project progress and communicate updates to all stakeholders.
- Uphold quality standards for both work and materials throughout the project lifecycle.
- Manage labor hours efficiently to optimize project costs.
- Oversee compliance with specifications, local codes, and installation practices.
- Ensure subcontractors are well-informed of project expectations prior to commencement.
- Communicate safety procedures and compliance expectations to subcontractors.
- Ensure all testing, startup, and field reports are completed and submitted as required.
Qualifications:
- Relevant diploma, degree, or trade certification in Mechanical Engineering or related fields.
- PMP certification or equivalent training in construction project management is advantageous.
- A minimum of 5 years of experience in mechanical construction project management, including contracts, budgeting, planning, and scheduling.
- Experience in trades such as Steamfitting, Gasfitting, Welding, or Plumbing is beneficial.
- Possession of a valid Ontario Driver's License (G License) is mandatory.
- Strong understanding of union contracts and provincial health and safety regulations.
- Proven track record of delivering projects on time and within budget.
- Proficient in MS Office Suite (Outlook, Excel, Project, Word); experience with Accubid is a plus.
- Familiarity with standard contract forms and construction processes (RFI, RFQ, Change Orders, etc.).
- Ability to interpret construction and engineering drawings and schematics.
- Exemplary leadership skills, professionalism, and integrity.
- Strong multitasking and problem-solving abilities in high-pressure environments.
- Highly organized with a keen attention to detail and a commitment to quality.
- Willingness to travel to various job sites as necessary.
