Position Overview:
On-Call Healthcare Security Officers operate at various health facilities across the province. These roles come with competitive hourly wages, travel incentives, extensive training, comprehensive benefits, opportunities for advancement, and recognition programs. This position requires flexibility in working various shifts and travel.
Key Responsibilities:
- Monitor patient safety and report any changes to Protective Services and/or Clinical staff.
- Document all incidents according to specific site protocols.
- Respond promptly to alarms and emergency assistance requests.
- Adhere to and enforce safety codes, regulations, and procedures.
- Handle confidential information with a high degree of discretion.
- Utilize two-way radios and computer applications to communicate site activities.
- Professionally monitor and screen visitors and clients.
- Manage and de-escalate high-stress situations while maintaining order.
- Ensure the safety of all stakeholders, including patients, clinical staff, and visitors, using de-escalation techniques and, if necessary, physical intervention.
- Maintain detailed logs of all patient interactions and incidents reported by hospital staff, patients, or visitors.
- Respond to emergency calls for assistance.
Qualifications:
- Availability for various shifts, including overnight and weekends.
- Willingness to travel to rural sites within a 200 km radius.
- Ability to obtain an Alberta Security License.
- Valid Class 5 driver's license and access to a vehicle.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong interpersonal and customer service skills, maintaining professionalism and a friendly demeanor.
- Capability to write detailed reports and maintain site logs.
- Ability to make quick decisions while remaining composed in emergency situations with minimal supervision.
- Discretion in handling confidential and private information.
- Ability to perform under pressure and in challenging situations.
- Physical capability to walk 18-20 km and climb stairs.
