Position Overview

Under the supervision of the Custodial Foreman, the Facility Maintenance Attendant is responsible for performing cleaning and basic upkeep tasks to ensure that municipal facilities are kept in a neat, safe, and welcoming condition for community use.

Key Responsibilities

The responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

• Execute cleaning services, basic maintenance, and facility setup duties before, during, and after events, ensuring optimal cleanliness and satisfaction for all user groups.

• Prepare and arrange audio/visual equipment and furnishings as per the requests of user groups.

• Foster positive public relations and provide assistance and information to facility users.

• Ensure that facilities are opened and secured according to established schedules, policies, and procedures.

• Adhere to all rules and regulations related to facility usage.

• Complete necessary documentation including time cards, supply requests, communication reports, incident reports, and maintenance checklists as required.

• Promptly communicate any issues or concerns to the Custodial Foreman or designated personnel.

• Coordinate with booking clerks regarding the status of facility reservations, including any modifications or cancellations.

Required Qualifications

The ideal candidate will possess a partial high school education and demonstrate the ability to read, write, perform basic arithmetic, and communicate effectively. Strong organizational skills and exceptional customer service abilities are essential. Candidates should be in good physical condition. Relevant work experience, which may include a period of up to one month of continuous learning, is required. A working knowledge of safe practices for using both powered and manual cleaning equipment, as well as audio/visual tools, is necessary. This role encompasses responsibilities for all municipal facilities. A valid Class 5 Driver's License is required, and candidates must provide their own transportation for travel between facilities, with mileage reimbursed. Basic computer skills are also essential for this position.

This role falls under the jurisdiction of the C.U.P.E. Local 30, and adherence to the articles of the Collective Agreement is required.

Work Hours: Shifts may vary, including days, nights, and weekends.
