Position Overview:

On-Call Healthcare Safety Officers operate across various medical facilities in the region. These positions offer competitive hourly wages, travel incentives, extensive training, comprehensive benefits, opportunities for advancement, and recognition for outstanding performance. Candidates must be prepared to work flexible shifts and travel as needed.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee patient safety and communicate any changes to the Protective Services and/or Clinical staff
  • Document all incidents in accordance with site-specific protocols
  • Respond promptly to alarms and emergency situations
  • Adhere to and enforce safety regulations and procedures
  • Handle sensitive and confidential information with utmost discretion
  • Utilize communication tools, including two-way radios and computer applications, to report site activities
  • Professionally monitor and screen visitors and clients
  • Manage and de-escalate high-pressure situations to maintain order
  • Ensure the safety of all individuals, including patients, clinical staff, and visitors, using de-escalation techniques and, if necessary, physical intervention
  • Maintain a detailed log of all interactions with patients
  • Respond to emergency assistance requests

Qualifications:

  • Availability for various shifts, including nights and weekends
  • Willingness to travel to rural sites within a designated area
  • Ability to obtain an Alberta Security License
  • Possession of a valid class 5 driver’s license and personal vehicle
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong interpersonal skills with a professional and approachable demeanor
  • Capability to produce detailed reports and maintain accurate logs
  • Ability to make quick decisions while remaining calm in emergencies
  • Discretion in handling confidential information
  • Capacity to perform under pressure and in challenging conditions
  • Physical ability to walk significant distances and navigate stairs
