Role Summary:

The Senior Analyst in Portfolio Strategy will play a pivotal role in shaping OMERS' investment and portfolio strategies. Reporting to the Director of Portfolio Strategy, this position involves collaboration with various investment teams to enhance our overall investment approach.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Assist in formulating a comprehensive 3-year strategy in alignment with OMERS' corporate objectives, focusing on investment strategies and portfolio design.
  2. Work closely with investment units to define their strategic priorities and support ad-hoc strategy initiatives.
  3. Conduct thorough analyses for periodic evaluations of the investment operating model.
  4. Perform research on global peers and investment strategies to derive strategic insights and benchmark standards.
  5. Prepare detailed presentations on asset allocation and investment performance to inform total portfolio decisions.
  6. Synthesize complex analyses into clear, actionable insights for stakeholders.
  7. Engage with cross-functional teams to enhance knowledge of investment strategies.
  8. Share insights and collaborate with investment teams to optimize outcomes for the pension plan.
  9. Mentor junior team members, fostering a culture of knowledge sharing and professional growth.

Qualifications:

  1. A minimum of 5 years of experience in investment management, consulting, or financial services; experience in pension funds is advantageous.
  2. Strong understanding of asset allocation and various investment products.
  3. Ability to approach problems strategically and develop structured solutions.
  4. Proficient in creating presentations for senior leadership.
  5. Detail-oriented with a passion for continuous learning and trend analysis.
  6. Exceptional attention to detail paired with a strategic mindset.
  7. Proficient in MS Excel and PowerPoint; familiarity with financial databases like FactSet or Bloomberg is a plus.
  8. Demonstrated initiative and ability to achieve results.
  9. Strong interpersonal skills to build relationships across the organization.
  10. Ability to manage multiple priorities while delivering high-quality work.
  11. Commitment to fostering a collaborative and innovative team environment.
