The Finance Operations Manager is instrumental in delivering financial and operational assistance to Canadian Commercial Banking and Canadian Banking Finance, playing a significant role in shaping the strategic direction and outcomes of the business line while ensuring the accuracy of financials, systems, and reporting. This position provides support to the Director of Business Banking, CB Finance in the following areas:

  • Comprehensive financial planning, forecasting, and reporting for the entire Profit & Loss statement
  • Monthly, quarterly, and annual reporting and analysis of business line performance
  • Creation of financial models and reporting packages for planning, monitoring, and reporting on business line performance and various initiatives
  • Management of expenses, including processing and ongoing oversight and reporting of all expenditures
  • Conducting competitive analysis, managing ad hoc projects, and fulfilling administrative requirements
  • Engaging with stakeholders across the business line, finance, and support functions

In this role, the individual will collaborate with various leaders within Commercial Business Lines (Commercial Distribution, Real Estate Banking, and Roynat), Canadian Banking Finance, and other internal partners. Additionally, the incumbent will participate in various projects.

Planning and Forecasting:

  • Develop annual Profit Plans and forecasts while monitoring the Profit & Loss statement to ensure adherence to budget
  • Provide precise forecasts by closely analyzing trends in the Balance Sheet and Profit & Loss, collaborating with field teams and partners
  • Identify key drivers, address concerns, and summarize findings with recommendations for business line and finance leadership teams
  • Work closely with stakeholders in the business line, finance, and partners to ensure effective and timely execution

Financial Analysis, Review, and Tracking of Business Line Results:

  • Assist in the preparation of bluebooks, KPIs, and all monthly and quarterly reporting and dashboards
  • Generate reports comparing actual versus planned volumes, revenues, margins, and expenses
  • Provide analysis and tracking of support and allocated business line expenses
  • Review submissions for accuracy and collaborate with partners to ensure data integrity and proper explanations

Expense Management and Controls:

  • Monitor Non-Interest Expenses across all business lines at the transit level
  • Research and identify alternatives to maximize benefits and enhance revenues while minimizing costs
  • Design and create management reports that offer a clear overview and recommendations on budget usage and variances for effective expense control and decision-making
  • Ensure all expenses comply with the Bank's policies and guidelines
  • Manage, monitor, and report on staffing and overruns to ensure targets are met

Execute Ad Hoc Projects and Manage Relationships with Key Stakeholders:

  • Cultivate and manage relationships within the business line, partners, and support functions to provide exceptional support for all activities and initiatives
  • Evaluate and recommend alternatives to meet initiative objectives and deadlines while improving efficiencies and fostering collaboration

  • A minimum of 5 years of experience in a related role with a strong background in managerial accounting and financial management
  • Proficiency in Excel, PowerPoint, and Word, along with the Bank's accounting/finance systems such as OBI, Hyperion, and Smartstream
  • Attention to detail with excellent analytical and presentation skills
  • Proactive approach with strong verbal and written communication abilities
  • Strong process management, planning, and organizational skills to facilitate teamwork and coordinate multiple deliverables
  • A solid understanding of the Bank's established processes, policies, and guidelines regarding financial accounting and management
  • Flexibility to adapt to a diverse range of tasks and functions with changing demands
