Contract Management Specialist

Position Overview
The Contract Analyst at Smiths Medical plays a crucial role in assessing, drafting, and facilitating the negotiation of agreements with the Sales Team while managing responses to Requests for Proposals (RFPs). This position is responsible for the implementation of contracts within the contracting system and for tracking the operational performance of these agreements.
Key Responsibilities
- Assess contracts and pricing strategies to ensure adherence to legal and contractual requirements, and take necessary actions to address compliance issues.
- Maintain and update the Model N contract management system based on new or revised contract terms.
- Coordinate and manage responses to RFPs relevant to the assigned region.
- Provide analytical data and insights for specific regions and contracts.
- Communicate extensively with the Sales Team to keep them informed about customer negotiations.
- Monitor contract expiration dates within the region and notify the Sales Team accordingly.
- Address incoming contracting inquiries or requests from the Sales Team.
- Support initiatives aimed at process improvement, standardization, or strategic projects.
- Work collaboratively with the accounts receivable team to resolve billing discrepancies in line with contractual terms.
- Participate in relevant project teams and working groups.
- Engage in special projects as assigned.
Qualifications & Skills
- Strategic thinker with strong technical skills, analytical capabilities, sound judgment, and a focus on operational efficiency.
- Experience in the contracting process, including the review, amendment, and standardization of contracts and terms and conditions.
- Experience in the Medical Surgical business model is preferred.
- Ability to exercise sound judgment, maintain confidentiality, and interact diplomatically.
- Proficient in independently identifying, researching, and resolving issues.
- Demonstrated capability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.
- Highly organized and self-motivated, able to work with minimal supervision.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to gather, interpret, and evaluate information from diverse sources; establish connections between data sources, draw logical conclusions, and provide timely recommendations.
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel.
Minimum Education & Experience
- Must be at least 18 years of age.
- Bachelor's degree in business, marketing, economics, or a related field, or equivalent experience; an MBA is advantageous.
- Over 4 years of experience in contracting, with at least 2 years in the Medical Industry.
- Experience in managing RFP processes.
- Prior experience with Model N is preferred.
Work Environment
- This role is primarily sedentary.
- Operates in a professional office setting and routinely utilizes standard office equipment.
- Travel requirements are typically less than 10%.
