Job Overview

We are currently seeking an Associate to become a vital member of the Finance Business Partner team within the Management Analytics (MA) division of our Finance department. The MA team is responsible for delivering financial insights and information regarding performance, costs, and risks to facilitate informed decision-making at both departmental and organizational levels through collaboration with Finance Business Partners.

The selected candidate will play a crucial supporting role across various Investment departments, contributing to the development of tailored reporting, analytics, and insights related to investment performance, costs, and risks. A solid understanding of financial and investment analysis principles, coupled with exceptional organizational and communication skills, will be essential for success in this role.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate within a team to generate analytical reports for investment departments, effectively narrating the financial story to Senior Management.
  • Create engaging materials to support discussions, including innovative presentations that utilize charts, tables, and visuals for pre-read and presentation purposes.
  • Assist in the annual business planning cycle by helping to formulate both annual and long-term budgets that align with departmental strategies and expectations prior to the fiscal year commencement.
  • Ensure the accuracy, completeness, and relevance of financial reporting and analysis by coordinating efforts within and across departments.
  • Engage in new data and analytics initiatives aimed at improving information flow and providing insightful recommendations to internal business partners and Senior Management.
  • Collaborate with Finance colleagues to establish self-service capabilities and multi-dimensional reporting/dashboards that adapt to the evolving analytical requirements of the departments and the organization.
  • Build and maintain effective working relationships within the team and across various groups at CPP Investments, including investment departments and the Office of the Chief Investment Officer.
  • Address ad-hoc business inquiries to support Board discussions, evaluate investment programs and strategies, and identify key value drivers.

Qualifications

Required Skills and Experience:

  • A minimum of 4+ years of professional experience in financial analysis within the financial services or consulting sectors.
  • An undergraduate or graduate degree in Finance, Accounting, or a related field; professional certifications (CFA, CPA, CIPM) are advantageous.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in SQL, Python, Tableau, and/or Power BI is preferred.
  • Strong presentation capabilities with experience in crafting impactful presentation decks using MS PowerPoint.
  • Highly organized with a keen attention to detail and the ability to deliver high-quality work under pressure and tight deadlines.
  • Proven ability to coordinate among multiple stakeholders and effectively manage project deliverables.
  • Self-driven, capable of critical and creative thinking, and adaptable to shifting priorities and challenges.
  • A demonstrated ability to work independently as well as collaboratively in a team-oriented environment.
