Position Overview

We are currently seeking an Associate to join the Finance Business Partner team within the Management Analytics (MA) group of the Finance department. MA delivers financial insights and information regarding performance, costs, and exposures to facilitate management decision-making at both departmental and total Fund levels through the Finance Business Partners.

The selected candidate will play a crucial supporting role to various Investment departments, providing input to drive tailored reporting, analytics, and insights related to investment performance, costs, and exposures. A solid understanding of financial and investment analysis concepts, along with strong organizational and effective communication skills, will be essential.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate within a team to produce analyses for investing departments that effectively communicate the narrative behind the numbers to Senior Management.
  • Create compelling materials to facilitate discussions, including innovative presentations that utilize charts, tables, and other visuals in pre-read and presentation materials.
  • Assist and guide during the annual business planning process, developing an annual and long-range budget to support departmental strategies and ensure alignment with expectations (in terms of budgets and business objectives) before the fiscal year commences.
  • Coordinate within and across departments to guarantee the accuracy, completeness, and relevance of information supporting financial reporting and analysis.
  • Engage in new data and analytics initiatives to enhance information flows and provide insightful recommendations to internal business partners and Senior Management.
  • Collaborate with Finance colleagues to develop self-service capabilities and multi-dimensional reporting/dashboards to meet the evolving analytics needs of the departments and the Fund.
  • Build and maintain effective working relationships within the team and across CPP Investments, including investing departments and the Office of the Chief Investment Officer.
  • Address ad-hoc business requests to facilitate Board discussions, support evaluations of investment programs and strategies, and identify drivers of value-add.
Qualifications

Essential Requirements:

If you possess the following qualifications, we would like to hear from you:

  • A minimum of 4+ years of professional experience in financial analysis within financial services or consulting.
  • An undergraduate or graduate degree in Finance, Accounting, or a related discipline; professional designations (CFA, CPA, CIPM) are considered advantageous.
  • Demonstrated experience in SQL, Python, Tableau, and/or Power BI is regarded as an asset.
  • Strong presentation skills with experience in creating compelling presentation decks in MS PowerPoint.
  • Highly organized with a keen attention to detail and the ability to produce high-quality work under pressure and tight deadlines.
  • Capability to coordinate among multiple stakeholders and effectively manage project deliverables.
  • Self-motivated, with the ability to think critically and creatively, and adapt to changing priorities and new challenges.
  • Proven ability to work independently as well as collaboratively in a team-oriented environment.
