POSITION SUMMARY

The Senior Analyst, Claims Management is responsible for overseeing a wide range of advisory services related to claims for compensation, restitution, or any remedy for financial loss or breach of contract. This role ensures that the processing of insurance claims is conducted efficiently and accurately, safeguarding the interests of the insured while delivering excellent customer service. The analyst will act as a key liaison among clients, adjusters, service providers, and other stakeholders involved in claims or related incidents.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES

Claims Oversight

  • Manage the efficient and accurate processing of insurance claims, ensuring the protection of the insured parties' interests.
  • Facilitate communication between clients, adjusters, service providers, and other involved parties.
  • Oversee claims file management, including reporting, data collection, and resolution processes.
  • Review substantial claim files in collaboration with internal and external stakeholders, including brokers, insurers, and legal teams.
  • Analyze reports from Third Party Adjusters to ensure appropriate claims disposition.
  • Lead special projects within the risk management division.
  • Identify strategic opportunities through financial analysis and cost/benefit assessments.
  • Provide technical support to team members regarding claim investigations and evaluations.
  • Implement best practices aligned with organizational objectives.
  • Manage daily operations of claims processing.
  • Engage with various stakeholders throughout the claims process.
  • Stay informed on tort reform and its implications for claims management strategies.
  • Apply necessary interventions and follow up on designated projects.
  • Collaborate with Claims and business leaders to advance enterprise initiatives.
  • Assist in preparing files for legal proceedings.
  • Handle complex claims, including general liability and workers' compensation, both litigated and non-litigated.
  • Participate in annual planning and budgeting under leadership guidance.

Reporting and Communication

  • Generate and analyze claims reports and financial data related to claims management, including reserve and payment reconciliations.
  • Prepare and present analytical reports on claims status and trends, providing recommendations and technical insights for management.
  • Develop and implement enhancements to claims handling processes.
  • Conduct training sessions for client accounts on new onboarding procedures.
  • Create communication materials regarding claims.

Insurance Support

  • Assist the Risk Manager with the insurance renewal application process.
  • Facilitate the preparation and distribution of insurance certificates.

Incident Management

  • Contribute to the development of BGIS' incident management program, focusing on control enhancements for significant risk events.
  • Monitor and report on key risk incidents to enhance organizational awareness.

Additional Responsibilities

  • Support Risk Management leadership with various ad hoc requests.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Over 5 years of relevant experience.
  • 5 years in the insurance industry or equivalent experience.
  • Ability to engage with all organizational levels, demonstrating strong organizational awareness.
  • Knowledge of insurance and risk management frameworks.
  • Excellent presentation and facilitation skills.
  • Strong negotiation and problem-solving abilities.
  • Exceptional organizational skills.
  • Proven capability in multi-stakeholder engagement.
  • Demonstrated attention to detail, time management, and leadership skills.
  • Fluency in insurance processes, including negotiation and reserving.

Preferred Licenses and Professional Accreditations

  • Risk management designation (CRM, CRMA).
  • Associate in Claims Management (AIC or AIC-M).
  • Associate in Risk Management (ARM) or Canadian Risk Management (CRM).
  • Chartered Loss Adjuster (CLA).
  • Workers Compensation Professional (WCP).
