POSITION OVERVIEW

The Senior Analyst, Claims Management is responsible for overseeing a wide range of advisory services related to claims for compensation, restitution, or any other remedy concerning financial losses or breaches of contractual obligations. This role ensures that the processing of insurance claims is conducted efficiently and accurately, safeguarding the interests of the insured while delivering exceptional customer service. The analyst will act as a key liaison among clients, adjusters, service providers, and other stakeholders involved in claims or related incidents.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES

Claims Oversight

  • Manage the processing of insurance claims to ensure efficiency and accuracy while protecting the interests of the insured parties.
  • Facilitate communication between clients, adjusters, service providers, and other relevant parties involved in claims.
  • Oversee claims file management, including reporting, data collection, and resolution processes.
  • Review significant claim files with both internal and external stakeholders, including brokers, insurers, adjusters, and leadership.
  • Analyze reports from Third Party Adjusters to ensure proper claims disposition.
  • Lead special projects within the risk management division.
  • Identify strategic opportunities through financial analysis and cost/benefit assessments.
  • Provide technical guidance to team members on claims investigation and resolution.
  • Implement best practices aligned with organizational objectives.
  • Manage daily operations related to claims processing.
  • Engage extensively with various stakeholders throughout the claims process.
  • Stay informed on tort reform and its implications for claims management strategies.
  • Apply appropriate interventions and follow up on identified initiatives.
  • Collaborate with other claims and business leaders to drive enterprise-wide initiatives.
  • Assist in preparing files for litigation or subrogation processes.
  • Handle complex general liability, automobile, and workers' compensation claims, both litigated and non-litigated.
  • Conduct annual planning and budgeting in alignment with leadership guidance.

Reporting and Communication

  • Prepare and analyze claims reports, including financial information related to claims management.
  • Present analytical reports on claims status and trends to management, offering recommendations and technical insights.
  • Develop and implement process improvements for claims handling and best practices.
  • Conduct training sessions for client accounts on new onboarding processes.
  • Create communication materials regarding claims.

Insurance Support

  • Assist the Risk Manager with the insurance renewal application process.
  • Facilitate the preparation and distribution of insurance certificates.

Incident Management

  • Support the enhancement of BGIS' incident management program, including the development of controls for significant risk events.
  • Monitor and communicate key risk incidents to raise awareness across the organization.

Additional Responsibilities

  • Assist Risk Management leadership with various ad hoc requests.

QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS

  • Over 5 years of relevant experience.
  • 5 years of experience in the insurance industry or equivalent.
  • Strong organizational awareness and ability to interact at all organizational levels.
  • Knowledge of insurance and risk management frameworks.
  • Excellent presentation and facilitation skills.
  • Strong negotiation and problem-solving abilities.
  • Proficient organizational skills.
  • Ability to engage multiple stakeholders effectively.
  • Demonstrated attention to detail, time management, and leadership capabilities.
  • Fluency in insurance processes, including negotiation and reserving.

Preferred Licenses and Professional Accreditations

  • Risk management designation (CRM, CRMA).
  • Associate in Claims Management (AIC or AIC-M).
  • Associate in Risk Management (ARM) or Canadian Risk Management (CRM).
  • Chartered Loss Adjuster (CLA).
  • Workers Compensation Professional (WCP).
