About the Role

The Senior Financial Reporting Analyst will be responsible for leading the financial reporting process, ensuring regulatory compliance, managing treasury activities, and driving finance transformation projects.

Key Responsibilities
  • Financial Reporting:
    • Prepare and record monthly journal entries
    • Support financial reporting for quarterly close
    • Prepare income statement variance analysis
    • Gather accounting and actuarial information for term life
    • Forward monthly reports to offshore team for bank reconciliations
    • Initiate US dollar purchases for the branch
  • Financial Process Improvement:
    • Collaborate with business partners to investigate and resolve issues
    • Monitor account reconciliations and assist with investigation and resolution
  • Regulatory Reporting:
    • Support IFRS 17 reporting by completing DSL upload and reconciling cashflows
    • Check OSFI quarterly LIFEPRO and LIMAT files for errors and accuracy
    • Complete quarterly OSFI analysis for senior management
    • Maintain a list of unclaimed cheques and property
  • Internal Audit and Control Testing:
    • Assist with Sox testing and internal audit
    • Partner with internal and external auditors
  • Treasury:
    • Download RBC and BMG bank consolidated statements
    • Verify and process policyholder claims and Peoplesoft stop payments
    • Monitor and reconcile Peoplesoft cheques and claims cheques
    • Setup and verify bank information and approvals for wire transfer requests
    • Setup installment tax payments in RBC tax payment system
    • Monitor RBC payee mismatch/exceptions
  • Finance Transformation Projects:
    • Act as a business partner and manage relationships with other departments
    • Take an active role in product development and modernization of projects
Qualifications

We are looking for a highly skilled and experienced professional with:

  • 3-5 years of related work experience and an Accounting/Finance designation
  • Proven analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Proven self-starter with excellent time management skills
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced and changing environment
  • Strong attention to detail and intellectual curiosity
  • Collaborative team player with excellent communication skills
  • Knowledge of accounting standards (US STAT, US GAAP, IFRS)
  • Previous experience in the insurance industry is an asset
