Position Overview: We are seeking an experienced Operational Senior Claims Leader to oversee a specialized unit focused on technical large loss management.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead a team dedicated to enhancing performance and achieving strategic business objectives.
  • Foster an environment that empowers individuals to excel and supports their professional growth.
  • Collaborate with the team to enhance operational systems that improve customer service and financial outcomes.
  • Manage operational risks associated with team outputs effectively.
  • Identify and implement continuous improvement initiatives to eliminate inefficiencies.

  • Communicate a clear vision and engage team members in achieving desired outcomes.
  • Develop and refine claims standards, compliance protocols, and training materials.

Accountabilities:

  • Oversee a quantification team, including appraisers, evaluators, vendor managers, and specialists.
  • Serve as a leader of leaders within the Property Claims Department.
  • Formulate strategies to enhance technical capabilities and assess their effectiveness.
  • Ensure governance and control measures are in place for pricing.
  • Optimize workflows and risk management practices to achieve financial targets.
  • Identify compliance gaps and propose actionable solutions.
  • Align the quantification team with other business units and the broader department.
  • Encourage a culture of coaching and skill development.
  • Utilize expertise in the claims process to manage vendor performance and resolve issues.
  • Contribute to the strategic direction of the department.
  • Represent the team in discussions with senior management.
  • Maintain a strong understanding of financial aspects of claims operations.
  • Innovate solutions and identify challenges creatively.
  • Participate as a technical expert in strategic initiatives.

Qualifications:

  • Proven experience in large loss quantification and technical construction.
  • Post-secondary education with a CIP/FCIP designation.
  • Demonstrated leadership experience in the insurance sector.
  • Track record in performance management and employee development.
  • Experience in continuous improvement methodologies.
  • Exceptional communication skills with the ability to influence at all organizational levels.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Strong analytical skills to derive insights from data for performance enhancement.
  • Curiosity and creativity in problem-solving.
