POSITION OVERVIEW

The Senior Analyst, Claims Management is responsible for overseeing a diverse range of advisory services related to claims for compensation, restitution, or other remedies for financial losses or breaches of contract. This role ensures the efficient and accurate processing of insurance claims, safeguarding the interests of the insured while delivering exemplary customer service. The analyst will act as a key liaison among clients, adjusters, service providers, and other stakeholders involved in claims or related incidents.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES

Claims Oversight

  • Manage the processing of insurance claims to ensure efficiency, accuracy, and protection of the insured parties' interests.
  • Act as a liaison among clients, adjusters, service providers, and other relevant parties involved in claims.
  • Oversee claims file management, including reporting, data collection, and resolution.
  • Review substantial claim files with internal and external stakeholders, including brokers, insurers, adjusters, and leadership.
  • Analyze reports from Third Party Adjusters to ensure appropriate claims disposition.
  • Lead and engage in special projects within the risk management sector.
  • Identify strategic opportunities through financial analysis and cost/benefit assessments.
  • Provide technical support to team members regarding claim investigations and evaluations.
  • Implement best practices aligned with organizational objectives.
  • Manage daily operations related to claims processing.
  • Engage extensively with various stakeholders in the claims process.
  • Stay informed on tort reform and its implications for claims management strategies.
  • Apply necessary interventions and follow up on identified initiatives.
  • Collaborate with other claims and business leaders to define and drive enterprise-wide initiatives.
  • Assist in preparing files for litigation or subrogation.
  • Handle complex general liability, automobile, and workers' compensation claims, both litigated and non-litigated.
  • Conduct annual planning and budgeting in alignment with leadership guidance.

Reporting and Communication

  • Prepare and analyze claims reports, including financial data related to claims management.
  • Present analytical reports on claims status and trends to management, offering recommendations and technical insights.
  • Develop and implement improved claims handling processes and best practices.
  • Conduct training sessions for client accounts on new onboarding processes.
  • Communicate effectively regarding claims management.

Insurance Support

  • Assist the Risk Manager with the insurance renewal application process.
  • Facilitate the preparation and distribution of insurance certificates.

Incident Management Support

  • Contribute to the enhancement of BGIS' incident management program, focusing on control improvements for significant risk events.
  • Monitor and communicate key risk incidents to raise awareness across the organization.

Additional Responsibilities

  • Support Risk Management leadership with various ad hoc requests.

QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS

  • Minimum of 5 years of relevant experience.
  • 5 years of experience in the insurance industry or equivalent.
  • Ability to engage with all organizational levels, demonstrating strong organizational awareness.
  • Knowledge of insurance and risk management frameworks.
  • Excellent presentation and facilitation skills.
  • Strong negotiation and problem-solving abilities.
  • Exceptional organizational skills.
  • Proven capability in multi-stakeholder engagement.
  • Demonstrated attention to detail, time management, and leadership skills.
  • Fluency in insurance processes, including negotiation and reserving.

Preferred Licenses and Professional Accreditations

  • Risk management designation (CRM, CRMA).
  • Associate in Claims Management (AIC or AIC-M).
  • Associate in Risk Management (ARM) or Canadian Risk Management (CRM).
  • Chartered Loss Adjuster (CLA).
  • Workers Compensation Professional (WCP).
