Black & McDonald is seeking a highly skilled and experienced professional to join our team as a Facility Supervisor. As a key member of our operations team, you will be responsible for the coordination and supervision of staff and subcontractors operating within our facilities management accounts.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide leadership and strategic direction to facility operations teams.
- Manage work orders and supervise the planning and coordination of work assignments for maintenance staff and trades.
- Collaborate with customer stakeholders, supervisors, and EHS teams to develop work plans and complete risk assessments.
- Work closely with tenants to complete work requests and maintenance with minimal disruption and adherence to customer protocols.
- Effectively monitor, prioritize, and dispatch work orders to maximize productivity and ensure quality.
- Ensure all training and certification requirements for staff are met through comprehensive tracking and scheduling.
- Conduct regular site walk-throughs and inspections to identify and address operational and emerging issues.
- Develop and implement action plans to address facility operational issues.
- Supervise the activities of subcontractors and subordinate staff.
- Participate in customer meetings and provide updates on facility operations.
- Assist with internal and client-based audits and inspections as needed.
- Ensure compliance with environmental, health, and safety, security, and quality assurance programs.
- Provide technical guidance and oversight to direct reports.
- Participate in vendor performance meetings and hold vendors accountable for contractual deliverables.
- Support the preparation of quarterly business reviews.
- Manage internal and external stakeholder relationships.
- Develop and implement emergency response plans and conduct audits.
- Mentor and train reporting staff.
- Develop performance development and career plans for team members.
- Perform quality assurance checks to ensure vendor contract obligations are being satisfied.
Competency Requirements
- Familiarity with software packages and management tools.
- Advanced analytical and time management skills.
- Understanding of facility management processes and standards.
- Knowledge of building products, construction details, and relevant rules, regulations, and quality standards.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
- Proven customer service skills.
- Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends, as required.
- Required to provide a clear police reference check.
Education Requirements
- A university degree or equivalent post-secondary degree in a field of study related to facility management.
- Experience in the facilities industry may substitute for post-secondary education requirements.
Work Experience Requirements
- Minimum of 3-4 years of experience in a building operations position.
- A trade license may be an asset.
- FMP/FMA designation (through BOMA or IFMA) may be considered an asset.
Skills, Abilities, and Other Requirements
- Able to travel within the London, ON area.
- Security clearance requirements: must be able to obtain reliability or secret clearance.
