Facility Operations Manager Position at Black & McDonald

Black & McDonald is seeking a dedicated Facility Operations Manager to join our team. Reporting to the Senior Operations Manager, this role involves coordinating and supervising staff and subcontractors operating within various Black & McDonald facilities. Responsibilities include:

  • Providing leadership and strategic objectives related to facility operations and maintenance
  • Managing work orders and coordinating assignments for maintenance staff and contractors
  • Collaborating with stakeholders to devise work plans and complete risk assessments and compliance checks
  • Ensuring staff training and certifications are up to date and aligned with industry standards
  • Performing site walk-throughs and inspections to ensure facilities are safe and well-maintained
  • Recommending solutions for operational issues and improving facility efficiency
  • Supervising subcontractors and subordinate staff to ensure high-quality work and customer satisfaction
  • Participating in customer meetings and audits to ensure compliance with customer requirements
  • Ensuring compliance with environmental, health, safety, and quality assurance programs and regulations
  • Mentoring and training reporting staff to improve their skills and knowledge
  • Conducting quality assurance checks to ensure facilities meet customer expectations
  • And other duties as required to support facility operations and maintenance

Requirements:

  • Familiarity with management tools and software packages, including CMMS and BMS systems
  • Advanced analytical and time management skills to prioritize tasks and manage multiple projects
  • Knowledge of building products, construction details, and regulations to ensure compliance and quality
  • Strong interpersonal and customer service skills to communicate effectively with stakeholders and customers
  • Ability to work flexible hours and travel to various facilities as required
  • University degree or equivalent experience in facilities management or a related field
  • Minimum 3-4 years of experience in building operations and maintenance
  • Trade license and FMP/FMA designation are assets
  • Willingness to obtain security clearance and travel as required
