Job Overview

The Maintenance Supervisor for Millwright and Electrician roles is accountable to the Maintenance Manager and plays a crucial role in overseeing and coordinating the daily functions of Maintenance Mechanics, Automation Technicians, and Electricians.
This position is essential for ensuring the dependable operation and upkeep of all production machinery and systems.

Key Responsibilities

  • Leads troubleshooting initiatives in collaboration with Maintenance technicians, specialists, production teams, and planners.
  • Communicates significant equipment issues and unsafe conditions to the Maintenance Manager, providing thorough documentation for any deviations and suggested modifications.
  • Oversees and verifies that all external service providers and contractors execute their tasks in compliance with internal protocols.
  • Exercises discretion in most daily maintenance-related decisions regarding production equipment and systems, escalating matters to the Maintenance Manager when necessary.
  • Ensures compliance with all company safety regulations and legislation by direct reports.
  • Promotes cleanliness and maintains an orderly work environment.
  • Collaborates with the Maintenance Scheduler to guarantee timely execution of preventive maintenance.
  • Works alongside the Inventory Technician to manage spare parts inventory, ensuring effective operational levels.
  • Assists the Maintenance Manager in budget management and appropriate allocation of financial resources.
  • Responds to emergency situations involving production equipment or systems as required.
  • Ensures adherence to Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) and pharmaceutical regulatory standards.
  • Conducts risk assessments and gap analyses of production equipment and systems, recommending continuous and cost improvements.
  • Facilitates the prompt resolution of quality system issues and documentation related to maintenance.
  • Maintains accurate records of all matters affecting the safe management, operation, and maintenance of production equipment and systems.
  • Develops and maintains relevant Standard Operating Procedures, Technical Bulletins, and other documentation.
  • Collaborates with various departments to understand maintenance support needs for all project activities.
  • Assesses training requirements for the maintenance team and develops a comprehensive training program to ensure proficiency across all shifts.
  • Leads assessments of the maintenance team structure and plans for staffing needs to support current and future business demands.
  • Responsible for coaching, discipline, and conducting annual performance evaluations for all direct reports.

Qualifications

Education

  • Certified Electrician or Millwright.

Experience

  • At least 7 years of experience in a manufacturing setting, preferably within the pharmaceutical or food/beverage industries, with a minimum of 2 years in a supervisory role.
  • Proficient in reading and interpreting architectural, mechanical, electrical, and P&ID schematics.
  • Strong interpersonal, troubleshooting, communication, planning, and organizational skills; demonstrates initiative, problem-solving abilities, and a results-oriented mindset.
  • Capable of leading and taking ownership of systems and projects; experience with ERP systems is preferred.
