Job Overview
The Maintenance Electrician Supervisor is responsible for overseeing and coordinating the daily operations of the Maintenance Mechanics, Automation Technicians, and Electricians. This role is crucial for ensuring the efficient operation and upkeep of all production machinery and systems.
Key Responsibilities
- Leads troubleshooting initiatives in collaboration with Maintenance technicians, specialists, production teams, and planners.
- Communicates significant equipment issues and unsafe conditions to the Maintenance Manager, providing necessary documentation for any deviations and suggested modifications.
- Monitors and verifies that external service providers and contractors adhere to established internal protocols.
- Exercises autonomy in daily maintenance decisions regarding production equipment and systems, escalating issues to the Maintenance Manager when necessary.
- Ensures compliance with all safety regulations and company policies among direct reports.
- Promotes a clean and organized workspace.
- Collaborates with the Maintenance Scheduler to ensure timely execution of preventive maintenance tasks.
- Works with the Inventory Technician to manage spare parts inventory effectively.
- Assists in managing the Maintenance budget and allocating funds appropriately.
- Responds to emergency situations involving production equipment or systems as needed.
- Ensures compliance with Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) and relevant regulatory standards.
- Conducts risk assessments and gap analyses of production equipment, recommending improvements and cost-saving measures.
- Aids in resolving quality system issues and maintaining documentation related to maintenance activities.
- Maintains accurate records of all matters affecting the safe management and operation of production equipment.
- Develops and updates Standard Operating Procedures and Technical Bulletins as required.
- Collaborates with various departments to identify maintenance support needs for project activities.
- Assesses training needs for the maintenance team and develops training programs to ensure proficiency across all shifts.
- Leads assessments of the maintenance team structure and plans for staffing to meet current and future demands.
- Responsible for coaching, performance evaluations, and disciplinary actions for direct reports.
Qualifications
Education
- Certification as an Electrician or Millwright is required.
Experience
- At least 7 years of experience in a manufacturing setting, preferably within the pharmaceutical or food and beverage industries, with a minimum of 2 years in a supervisory role.
- Proficient in reading and interpreting architectural, mechanical, electrical, and P&ID schematics.
- Strong interpersonal, troubleshooting, communication, planning, and organizational skills; demonstrates initiative and is results-oriented.
- Ability to lead projects and take ownership of systems. Experience with ERP systems is advantageous.
