About the Role:

The Human Resources Generalist will play a key role in supporting the full lifecycle of hourly employees within assigned departments, driving the overall success of the organization. This role will be responsible for developing and building strong relationships with cross-functional teams, supporting Management/Supervisors with employee relations, HR policies and procedures, performance management, recruitment and selection, training and development. The HR Generalist will lead and provide support to team projects across the organization, with accountability for other assigned HR activities.

Main Responsibilities:

Employee Relations

• Provide guidance and interpretation of policies and legislation to employees and supervisors

• Conduct workplace investigations, including workplace harassment, health and safety violations, etc.

• Performance management (conflict management, progressive discipline and counselling of employees/supervisors)

• Maintain proper documentation and records for sensitive matters

• Leaves management and employee return to work planning

Employee Tracking and Reporting

• Maintain employee databases for new hires, employment changes, terminations, etc.

• Manage electronic employee files and upload documents

• Prepare SAP and other reports as required

Recruitment and Selection

• Manage full-scale recruitment process for hourly and salary candidates, including phone screens, conducting online and in-person interviews, reference checks and employment offer preparation and extensions

• Post jobs on ATS and maintain database

• Attend job fairs as required and build partnerships with Colleges & Universities

• Formulation of Job Postings for new roles, both internal and external

• Preboarding employees who are joining the organization

Employee Development and Training

• Conducting orientation sessions for new hires, including preparation and organization with other departments

• Assist with development of HR Annual Training

• Providing feedback and coaching sessions for employee development and future success

• Succession planning and forecasting for the growth of the departments

• Support Talent Team with organization and deployment of training initiatives

Other Projects

• Assist with implementation of new HR programs and initiatives

• Assist with administration and deployment of employee programs such as; service awards, recognition, retirements, and other programs as required

• Participating in audits as required

• Plan, participate or run company events

Employee Communication

• Support internal communication needs for company-driven programs, events, giveaways, etc.

• Assist with development and maintenance of the digital boards/signage

Requirements:


• Bachelor's degree with a preferred specialization in Human Resources/Labour Relations

• CHRP/CHRL preferred

• Minimum 3-5 years of Employee Relations experience in a fast-paced manufacturing environment

• Demonstrated knowledge of employment laws and practices

• Strong investigative, analytical and critical thinking skills required for effective decision making, and good judgment to align with policies and procedures

• Strong leadership and collaboration experience

• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including presentation and facilitation skills.

• Ability to manage tasks and priorities, and multitask in a fast-paced environment

• Experience in handling contentious matters with sensitivity and tact

• Great attention to detail

• Strong computer skills with MS Office programs

• Familiarity with Human Resource Information Systems and database management (SAP, ADP, PeopleDoc preferred)

Monday – Friday Office Hours
Must be flexible to support plant operations outside of typical working hours, including during night shifts when required
