Senior Commercial Banking Lead

This is a challenging and rewarding opportunity to lead a high-performing team in Commercial Banking at Scotiabank. As a Senior Commercial Banking Lead, you will be responsible for providing expert advice and guidance to Senior Client Relationship Managers and Client Relationship Managers in Mid-Market.
Key Responsibilities- Provide coaching, feedback, and guidance to team members on structuring deals and presenting credit proposals to clients.
- Develop and implement strategies to improve the quality of the credit portfolio, including early identification of problem loans and adherence to credit requirements.
- Manage a team of Client Service Specialists and Credit Analysts, providing timely performance feedback and developing their skills through coaching and guidance.
- Train and develop the skills of team members in credit and operational skills, including delivery of training programs as requested.
- Support the Group Lead and Director in their absence, ensuring the smooth operation of the team.
- Contribute to business development opportunities by identifying and recommending referral opportunities and possible cross-sell options to Senior and Client Relationship Managers in Mid-Market.
- University degree with a business background, preferably an MBA or professional designation.
- Experience as a lender with strong overall credit and selling skills.
- Superior coaching and management skills.
- Strong knowledge of credit structures and applicable risk management.
- Strong organizational skills.
- Excellent interpersonal and teamwork skills.
- Good negotiation and problem resolution skills, as well as excellent communication skills (written and oral).
- Strong regulatory and compliance knowledge.
- Good knowledge of Commercial Banking Distribution structure and the role of other groups within Commercial Banking.
- Good knowledge of competitor offerings, alternative sources of financing, and industry knowledge.
